Megan's Third Eye and jewellery collection

This weeks instalment of "Behind The Jewels" features fellow Mancunian and my friend Megan Ellaby

Megan is best known for her bold, quirky and colourful styling combinations and her killer hair. For so many years we have followed her journey as a blogger, inspiring us through our twenties to shop independent brands, invest in a design bag or two and start embracing those clashing prints.

I knew Megan as a blogger long before I actually met her through my best friend Bianca (who is engaged to Jimmy, Megan's beau George's brother).

I have since had many wonderful evenings with Megan and all the close friends and family. Featured on a drunken vlog (there is an outrageous chin shot if my memory serves me well, LOL), and shared our love for many an item of clothing/jewellery/shoes.

Let's see what this forever muse and icon of Manchester has to say shall we....

JCJ: I will forever start with this question, so what was your first ever significant piece of jewellery and how did you acquire it?

ME: I’ve never really been big on jewellery I must say (I know SHOCKER!) so I don’t remember the first piece but I remember the most significant piece that I received was a beautiful coral coloured Cameo necklace that was my Nanna’s from the 40’s. She kindly gave it to me form 18th birthday and it’s bloody special.

JCJ: If you had to choose your favourite piece of jewellery of all of them, what would it be and why?

ME: Tbh it’s probably the Third Eye ring, NO JOKE!

JCJ: Now you've moved out of the city how do you find life as a creative? Do you find that your inspiration for content and styling comes from what you read and see online or the culture and vibe of Manchester and your travels?

ME: It’s a bit of both to be honest. I’m inspired by everything whether it’s people, music, different eras, architecture or the colour combination of the sandwich I’m eating. I’m inspired by a lot of creators online and the work of photographers but I’d say my biggest source of inspiration comes from the 1960’s and 1970’s particularly what the men were rocking.

JCJ: What is your pet peeve? Have you any stories about how it was triggered?

ME: Recently, my boyfriends started hanging things over the top of the doors whether it’s coats or wet TOWELS and it drives me MAD!

JCJ: Best boutique shopping in the world? Name your top three?

ME: In no particular order;

Corso Como in Milan

Dover Street Market- especially in New York

Hervia Bazaar- Manchester

JCJ: You have inspired so many girls around the UK, in particular with that statement fringe (I have seen so many dopplegangers, including the one I recently messaged you about hahaha). What are your feelings on being an "influencer" and how has that role evolved for you over time?

ME: It’s certainly a funny old world, particularly as I never set out to influence anyone. It was just a bit of fun, a passion project if you wish that grew pretty quickly and pretty excitingly over the past 6 years. I love what I do, I love being creative every day and collaborating with fashion and beauty brands I’ve always loved.

JCJ: Favourite activity outside of working?

ME: Walking my two sausage dogs

JCJ: Favourite item from your Saturday by Megan Ellaby collection and why?

ME: Ooo thats a tough one. I truly love them all. But if I had to pick it would be the sell out rainbow stripe shortly followed by the Oh So knit. Oh So because it was the first design that I designed and I just adore the colour combination and how it looks amazing on every single skin colour and with all hair colours.

JCJ: Best thing about being a Cancer and fellow July baby?

ME: Being totally in tune with ones emotions and mothering EVERYONE!
