Behind the Jewels is back with a bang! This week we caught up with one of our favourite fashion girlies, Betsie, about all things jewels. Betsie is a 27 year old content creator living just outside of London with her boyfriend and their cat, Cash (after Johnny). Her content is fashion based and heavily influenced by a good accessory.
She talks about her fashion journey, imposter syndrome, and her curated edit of JC jewels, available to shop now!
Behind the Jewels always starts with the same question: What was your first ever significant or sentimental piece of jewellery and how did you acquire it?
My first piece was a claw shaped pendant that held an onyx stone inside. My Dad used to wear this on an earring growing up, when he was a young cool drummer in a rock band lol! He passed it down to me when I was 16/17 and I wore it round my neck religiously

Can you tell us a bit about your fashion journey and how you got started doing what you do?
I've always been interested in fashion and during a difficult time in my teenage years, someone suggested I start a blog as an outlet and a way of expressing myself. I started taking photos in the garden (with the help of my mum's photography, bless her... she tried!) and that was where the outfit photos really began. From there, it became a more frequent thing on Instagram, getting my friends to take a snap of me if we spent the day in London or went out for drinks. People were so kind about what outfits I was putting together and were taking inspiration from it and this year I started to take it a bit more seriously... and now here we are, getting paid to do what has always been my most enjoyable hobby!
How would you describe your personal style, and what inspires your fashion choices?
The best way to describe it is, "there is no box". I am open to all styles and it can really depend on the day of the week. I always see TikToks of people getting asked "what's a fashion trend you hate at the moment?" and genuinely I can never think of an answer, because I think everything can work for everyone and it's more about what you feel good in... which for me can be a pair of baggy trousers and a crewneck, or a mini skirt and knee high boots. But I think a lot of inspiration can be found through TikTok as well. So many people are absolutely killing it with the outfit inspo and it's a great reminder that you can recreate a lot of the things you like with pieces you already own

Do you ever get imposter syndrome, if so how do you overcome it?
Every day haha! Luckily I have a great network around me - friends, family, a boyfriend, who are all incredibly supportive of what I do and the content I put out. They're an amazing reminder that I am good enough. I'm also a firm believer in what's made for you will always work out. And if it doesn't work out, it wasn't meant to be anyway.
What’s your star sign and does it describe you well?
I'm a cancer baby, a true July Child at heart! I'm pretty sure I tick every cancerian trait off the list. If there's a tear to be shed, I'm shedding
Favourite activity outside of working?
Finding a cosy dinner spot in London with good food and good cocktails
One thing you can’t live without?
Diet Coke and my jewels
One thing that makes you smile?
Warm summer night sunsets

I am LOVING @lanawilman at the moment. She is so colourful and wholesome and I quite honestly want a sleepover
Fave piece from your collection?
It's got to be the Cat Eye Ring. I just love the bright pop of green
