Third Eye Gold Ring | Mother Of Pearl

£220.00

July Child introduces the beautifully hand made Third Eye Ring. Third Eye rings are traditionally used to ward off evil spirits.

Third Eye ring featuring custom inlay of high-fired porcelain combined with Mother of Pearl set in 18k Gold.

About the stone:

Mother of pearl is considered an organic gem, a natural organism that has been mineralized while preserving its organic structure. This material comes from a protective layer of light colored lines inside the shells of mollusks in general. Known to some as the ‘nacre’ such as on a pearl; it is the shiny layer that forms inside of the shell.

Seashells were the medium of financial exchange in many parts of the world where metals were scarce or lacking altogether. Thought to be quite valuable, a gift from the sea, and to carry the life that it once carried itself.

C A R E : To keep your jewellery in optimum condition remove when interacting with harsh chemicals and detergents. When you are not wearing your jewellery store in a box/soft cloth bag.

For silver you can make a paste of baking soda and water and gently buff with a cloth or tooth brush. You can also use white toothpaste. Or boil with baking soda and 1 teaspoon of salt for just a few minutes and polish with soft cloth.

For gold use a little white toothpaste and polish with soft cloth.

For gold brass—believe it or not—tomato sauce works well if you rinse with water after. It is useful to use clear nail polish on the inside of your jewellery to prevent it from tarnishing (never fall victim to the clammy hand).

You can make a lemon and baking soda solution. Vinegar and salt with a soft cloth works well. Make sure to rub with olive oil after to prevent it from tarnishing!
