July Child presents the Third Eye necklace featuring custom inlay of high-fired porcelain combined with Opal set in 18k Gold.
The Third Eye is believed to ward off evil spirits and acts as a protector. A perfect gift for a loved one.
Opal is hydrated silicon dioxide - submicroscopic silica spheres bonded together with water and additional silica.
Because of it's play of color, it was considered by all in the ancient world to be the most bewitching and mysterious of gems, worn for its virtues of soothing and strengthening the sight, healing diseases of the eyes, and capable of providing great luck, as it possessed all the virtues of the gemstones whose colors reside within it.
In Greek mythology, opals were considered the stone form of the tears that Zeus wept after the defeat of the titans, whereas Indian lore considered it part of the Goddess of Rainbows after she turned to stone to avoid the romantic advances of other gods.
The opal used in our 18K pieces is mined in Australia, the main producer of opal worldwide, however the opal used in our gold-plated pieces has been grown in a laboratory from a base of opaline silica, taking over a year to grow and "come into their colors." This slow growth results in a similar structure and material balance as natural precious opals, but with increased durability and structural stability.

For silver you can make a paste of baking soda and water and gently buff with a cloth or tooth brush. You can also use white toothpaste. Or boil with baking soda and 1 teaspoon of salt for just a few minutes and polish with soft cloth.
For gold use a little white toothpaste and polish with soft cloth.
For gold brass—believe it or not—tomato sauce works well if you rinse with water after. It is useful to use clear nail polish on the inside of your jewellery to prevent it from tarnishing (never fall victim to the clammy hand).
You can make a lemon and baking soda solution. Vinegar and salt with a soft cloth works well. Make sure to rub with olive oil after to prevent it from tarnishing!
